Born on 1 January 1957 in Foumban, the new board member of ELECAM, Njipendi Salifou, hails from Foumban in the Noun Division (Western Region). His academic background includes a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sports and Physical Education from the National Institute of Youth and Sports in Yaounde. In 2000, Mr Njipendi Salifou became Senior Sports and Physical Education instructor at the National Institute of Youth and Sports in Yaounde before becoming a superscale professional in the discipline from 2006 to the present day.
As part of his sports teaching duties, the Electoral Board member worked between 1984 and 2014 at Lycée de Mfou in the Mefou et Afamba division, then at Vogt College and finally at Lycée Bilingue d’Efoulan in Yaoundé. From 2014 until his appointment as a member of the Electoral Board, he worked at the Lycée de Bikok.
At ease in his role, as well as on the political scene of the Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU), the ELECAM Electoral Board member was, until his appointment, a member of the Political Bureau. Since 2000, he has been Deputy National Secretary for Communication within this political party, a position he has held since 2014 alongside the Presidency of the Yaoundé III Sub-Division, also within the CDU. Since 2017, he has served as Deputy Coordinator for the Mfoundi Division.
On 16 September 2019, he earned the confidence of the Head of State, who signed a decree appointing him Board Member of Elections Cameroon.
On 16 October 2019 and 18 February 2025, he appeared before the Constitutional Council to take the following oath: “I swear to fully and faithfully discharge my duties and to exercise my office without fear or favour in accordance with the Constitution and laws in force, to ensure the confidentiality of proceedings and votes, to abstain from taking public positions and to decline any consultation on matters falling within the purview of Elections Cameroon.”
