M. L’Abbé Mathias Stephane BELL

Reverend Father Mathias Stéphane BELL is a prominent figure in the Catholic Church in Cameroon, with a rich and diverse career in priesthood, education, and communication.
He was born on 3 October 1965 in Sindongui1 Pouma, Sanaga Maritime Division, Littoral Region, into a family deeply rooted in the Catholic faith.

After obtaining his CEPE in 1977, Mr MATHIAS STEPHANE BELL entered the St. Paul de Nylon minor seminary in Douala as part of his secondary education from where, in 1985, he graduated with a Baccalaureate A4, majoring in Spanish. That same year, he was admitted to the Bonépoupa Major Seminary, where he graduated with a degree in Philosophy. After pursuing his studies in Rome at the Collège Pontifical Urbain de Propaganda Fide, the new honourable member of ELECAM graduated three years later with a degree in Theology.

In 1994, he obtained a Post-graduate Diploma in Canon Law and a Diploma of Specialisation in Clerical and Matrimonial Affairs from the Pontifical Urbaniana University, still in Rome. In 1997, after three years of training, he obtained a diploma in journalism. He completed his academic training with a Professional Post-graduate Diploma in International Relations (IRIC).
With a significant priestly ministry, Mr MATHIAS STEPHANE BELL was ordained a deacon in Rome on 3 April 1993. Between 1994 and 1997, he was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ, then principal of St Bruno College in Logbikoy, Nyanon. He was parish priest of several parishes in the Littoral region.

In 2001, the new Board member was appointed Deputy Director, then in 2002 promoted to Director of the Multi Media Centre, where he assumed the functions of Director, then member of the Board of Directors of SIGNIS Mondial.
Between 2002 and 2004, he was appointed by order and decree. First of all, as a member of the National Commission for the Examination of Applications for Access to Public Assistance for Private Communication, and subsequently, in September 2004, as a full member of the Communication Council.

From 2004 to 2015, he was the permanent Vatican Radio correspondent in Cameroon.
Father Mathias Stéphane BELL, the youngest of four children, is a respected and admired figure for his commitment and expertise in his field.
He is a versatile figure with a rich and diverse career in the priesthood, education and communication.
His deep commitment to serving the Church and the community is an inspiring example to many.
