On Thursday 26 March 2026, the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon held its first ordinary session for the current year.
This session of the Electoral Board was devoted, amongst others, to the presentation of the quarterly activity report from January to March 2026, followed by an assessment of the 2025–2026 strategic plan and the 2026 training plan; to the examination of the minutes of the fourth ordinary session of the Electoral Board held on 10 December 2025; the review of the 2026 administrative accounts, as well as the terms of reference for the Board members’ forthcoming field trip.
In his opening remarks, the Chairperson of the Electoral Board stated that 2026 will be a decisive year. Following the 2025 elections, the responsibility remains absolute, namely: ‘to consolidate achievements, address shortcomings and rigorously prepare for upcoming elections, in particular the municipal and legislative elections scheduled in the electoral calendar’
Dr Enow Abrams Egbe, President of the Electoral Board, also unveiled the provisional voter registration statistics, which show, to date, 69,844 newly registered voters, including 29,205 women and 40,639 men, bringing the cumulative total to 8,080,308 voters. These figures reflect an encouraging increase, demonstrating the renewed confidence of citizens, he added.
He also took this opportunity to commend the constant commitment of ELECAM’s operational registration teams on the ground, as well as the constructive collaboration of political parties, the administration, traditional and religious authorities, and civil society organisations.
Dr Enow Abrams Egbe concluded his remarks by clearly reiterating the duty of the election and referendum management body, namely: to guarantee credible elections, promote social peace and contribute to the democratic development of Cameroon.
