Defense and security forces

Cameroon's defense and security forces play an important role in maintaining stability and security, particularly during elections.

These actors shape the Cameroonian electoral scene and contribute to the complexity of the democratic process in the country.

Political Parties

They mobilise voters, present candidates and defend their political programmes.
They often have ethnic or regional affiliations, which influence elections.

Civil society

Civil society organisations supervise and monitor the electoral process.
They play a decisive role in raising citizens' awareness of the electoral process.
They very often work to promote exclusivity, transparency and integrity of the electoral process and elections.

The Media

They are an important vehicle for the electoral institution through awareness-raising, education and communication on the entire electoral process. They play a crucial role in media coverage of elections and shaping public opinion.
Objectively, media independence and impartiality are essential for balanced and transparent information.

International Actors

These are mainly international organisations, such as the UN. Alongside certain major powers, regional organisations and international institutions, these stakeholders can offer a form of arbitration and influence the electoral process in some way.
They can also provide financial, logistical and diplomatic support to candidates or political parties.

Cameroonian diaspora

Cameroonians living abroad can influence election results, particularly through their financial support for candidates and their participation in electoral campaigns.
