Section 19 of the Electoral Code provides that: “During an election period, the Electoral Board shall meet as often as necessary”. It is in this respect and mindful of the convening of the electorate by the Head of State on 11 July 2025 that the first session as of right of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon, in view of the election of the President of the Republic on 12 October 2025, held on Wednesday, 16 July 2025, as from 10 am, in the Conference Room on the 5th Floor at the Head Office of ELECAM.
The agenda for this session included the following;
- presentation on the level of preparedness about the material organisation of the 12 October 2025 Presidential Election by the Director General of Elections;
- examination and adoption of the calendar for activities of the Electoral Board and for the Directorate General of Elections relating to presidential election of 12 October 2025;
- examination and adoption of Terms of Reference (TOR) for the field trip of Members of the Electoral Board scheduled for 26 July to 6 August 2025.
In his opening statement, the Chairperson of the Electoral Board, ENOW Abrams EGBE, underlined that the mission conferred to the ELECAM requires that the election management body exercises absolute rigour, constant impartiality and full commitment in the interest of the Nation. In a solemn tone, Dr ENOW Abrams EGBE then urged all the stakeholders involved, notably administrations, civil society organisations, the media and, especially political parties, main beneficiaries of the electoral process, in a republican and patriotic spirit, to strive together towards guaranteeing peaceful, inclusive, credible and transparent elections.
